| Bugs Don't But Us! Cross your thumbs and wiggle away. (cross thumbs and wiggle fingers) Your hands can make a BUTTERFLY today! (make wiggling fingers fly overhead) A friend to every garden is the spotted LADY BUG. (make two fists and put them palm-to-palm, wiggle thumbs for antenna) If she weren't so tiny we could give her a hug! (hug yourself) Put your fingers together, there are ten in all. (touch all fingers together at fingertips) Now watch the creeping SPIDER as it climbs up the wall! (wtih fingers still touching, close them and then stretch them open, repeat this while moving them overhead, like the itsy bitsy spider ) Here is the GRASS and here is the HOPPER. (hold up five fingers and wiggle for grass, the other hand is the mouth of the grasshopper: thumb is the lower lip and the other four fingers are the upper part of the mouth, open and close ready to munch grass) She's ready for a snack and I'll bet you can't stop her! (nibble on each finger blade of grass) Silly ROLLY POLY, you shouldn't be scared at all. (hold hand out flat) Tickle, tickle, tickle, now roll into a ball! (tickle palm of hand with fingers of other hand. Then roll your tickled hand into a fist.) Busy little BEES are zooming all around. (put hands under arms and flap like wings) Working in their honeycomb and making that sound! Buzzzzzzz! (buzz) BUGS on the ground! BUGS in the air! (creep fingers down on floor and then wiggle them in the air) All kinds of BUGS! BUGS are everywhere! (hold up both hands and wiggle all ten fingers) Print these pages, cut out the bugs, laminate and place velcor or magnets on the back for a flannel board or cookie tray board addition to the story. Another option: Cut out the bugs, laminate and glue to craft sticks. |
